God said, “Ask!…

God said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” And Solomon said: “Now, O LORD my God, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted.

Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?”

And the speech pleased the LORD, that Solomon had asked this thing. Then God said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you.

And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days. So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.” ~I Kings 3:5-14

God lavishes us with more abundance than we can imagine if we but draw close to him with a humble heart~

  1. Just moments ago, I read the following written by Gary Wilkerson:

“Many saints throughout history have circumvented their bad situations through sheer faith, advancing God’s calendar by their passionate cries to him. No, they didn’t snap their fingers and God jumped up obediently to provide a miracle. Rather, something of their heart-cry, something of their brokenness, their faith, their zeal for his kingdom–touched his heart and moved him to act on their behalf.”

By using various examples, Wilkerson’s main point is that there have been many times when people got God to do something by persistence, faith, prayer, etc. In a way, it doesn’t make complete sense. In fact, this is one spiritual truth which I don’t think I understand very well. It must be real; there must actually be something to it. As of yet, though, I haven’t seemed to be able to figure it out completely. The bottom line seems to be if you want God to solve something, then keep on asking. Keep on persisting, keep praying, keep exercising your faith. Push God into doing something even if it looks like He isn’t. I definitely wish I understood things such as this better.

  2. If anything I feel I’m not going deep enough into spiritual things–here or anywhere else. This particular topic is one which I think I probably have a blind spot on. There does seem to be some kind of spiritual principle that I don’t understand well enough. It’s probably why I sometimes feel I’m not fully relating to some teachers such as Beth Moore. I have a feeling that this spiritual principle that I don’t seem to be grasping very well is something that she does understand. It may be why her book “Get Out of That Pit” may have left me with more questions than answers.
